Two Vantagepoint Funds receive five star ratings from Morningstar

The Vantagepoint target-date Milestone Funds1 completed their three year anniversary on Dec. 31, 2007, and the 2025 and 2035 Funds are now five star2 funds, having been awarded Morningstar’s top rating for the three-year and overall periods ending Jan. 31, 2008. Only one mutual fund in ten rated by Morningstar within each fund category receives the five star rating.2
More than half of the Vantagepoint Funds rated by Morningstar carry four star ratings, including actively managed individual funds, index funds, target-date Milestone Funds, and target-risk Model Portfolio Funds - while Morningstar awards four stars to only 22.5 percent of the funds it rates.
Wayne Wicker, senior vice president and chief investment officer of ICMA-RC, which is the sponsor of Vantagepoint Funds, said, “High ratings by Morningstar are just one indicator of the long term strength of the Vantagepoint Funds’ multi-manager strategy and the depth of our investment due diligence work.“
Further reflecting that strength, two of the Vantagepoint Milestone Funds far outpaced their peers in the latest rankings3 as the Retirement Income Fund beat 91 percent of its peers for the 12 month period ended Jan. 31, 2008 and the Milestone 2015 Fund beat 93 percent of its peers over the same 12 month period.
