The VantageBroker IRA Program
For most investors, the mutual funds available in a Vantagepoint IRA are sufficient. But those looking for additional investment opportunities may consider the VantageBroker IRA Program. The program offers access to additional mutual funds, as well as ETFs and individual stocks and bonds.*
To open a VantageBroker IRA account, you must have a total balance (across all of your ICMA-RC plans combined) of at least $55,000. This total balance, which excludes any assets you may have invested in the VantageBroker program, is referred to as your "core" account balance.
Funding Your VantageBroker IRA Account
When you open your VantageBroker IRA account, you provide instructions for an initial transfer of at least $5,000 and the minimum amount for subsequent transfers is $1,000. Following a transfer of funds to your VantageBroker IRA account, your core account balance (as defined above) must be at least $50,000. For example, if your core account balance is $56,000, the maximum amount you are eligible to transfer to your VantageBroker IRA account is $6,000.
